Traveling With Kids (Without Losing Your Mind): Our Footgolf Day at Disney 🌴⚽⛳️
Traveling with kids is magical… and exhausting. If you’ve ever tried to plan a vacation that keeps everyone happy, you know it can feel like an extreme sport. On our recent Disney trip, I was determined to find something fun, low-stress, and different for a non-park day—something that worked for kids and adults.
Enter footgolf. And honestly? It was one of the best decisions we made.
Why We Chose Footgolf at Disney
My three boys are soccer-obsessed, and my husband loves golf. When I discovered footgolf at Disney Oaks Trail Golf Course, it felt like the perfect blend of both worlds.
The course is:
9 holes
Beginner-friendly
All skill levels welcome
Played after 4pm (since it’s a regular golf course during the day)
Even better? Although footgolf is technically a four-player game, they happily gave me a soccer ball so I could join in too. Big win.
At $35 per player, it felt affordable for a Disney experience—especially one that gave us nearly two hours of family fun.
A Stress-Free Start (Yes, Really)
One of my favorite parts? Transportation was completely handled.
Because we were staying at a Disney hotel, they provided free transportation to and from our resort. All we had to do was ask the concierge to book it. No car seats. No parking. No stress.
Once we arrived, each kid got to:
Pick out their own soccer ball
Receive a footgolf scorecard
Practice on a training hole where they taught us how to play
After that, we were off on our own—no rushing, no pressure, just fresh air and fun.
The Experience: Competitive Kids, Happy Parents
My boys are… let’s call them enthusiastically competitive. 😅 But footgolf turned out to be the perfect outlet. They cheered each other on, debated scores, and laughed a lot.
My husband loved it too—it scratched his golf itch while still feeling playful and relaxed. And I loved watching everyone enjoy themselves without screens, lines, or meltdowns.
Bonus magic: we spotted wildlife along the course, including deer and birds. It felt calm, scenic, and surprisingly peaceful for being so close to the parks.
A Surprisingly Perfect “Rest Day” Activity
I’ll be honest—I hesitated to book this on a park rest day because of all the walking. But it turned out to be exactly what we needed.
Footgolf gave us:
Gentle movement instead of nonstop rides
Space to stretch our legs
Fresh air and downtime
A reset before jumping back into park chaos
If you’re traveling with kids, this is a great reminder: rest days don’t have to mean doing nothing—they just need to feel different.
Ending the Day the Disney Way 🍹✨
After our round, we hopped back on our free shuttle and headed to Disney's Polynesian Village Resort for cocktails and sodas—very close by and very relaxing.
From there, we turned it into a mini resort crawl:
Took the Walt Disney World Monorail System
Stopped at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
Finished with dinner at Disney's Contemporary Resort
No park tickets. No lightning lanes. Just vibes.
